Account
The card
A Visa or Mastercard that settles directly from shielded balance, with Apple Pay and Google Pay, per-card limits and an instant kill switch.
Status: pre-launch. Noirpay is being built. This page describes the design as specified in the whitepaper; nothing on it is live on Robinhood Chain yet, and details can change before launch. See What's live today.
Settling from shielded balance
A card purchase authorises against your shielded balance and settles to the issuer at the pool level. There is no unshield step first, no gas token to hold, and no wallet address on the receipt. On-chain, the pool settles a batch to the card programme; nothing ties a purchase to an account.
Card issuers underwrite Noirpay because compliance is built in: screening at the pool edge, association-set proofs and scoped disclosure are what make the programme acceptable, not an add-on.
Networks and wallets
- Visa or Mastercard, depending on region and issuer.
- Apple Pay and Google Pay.
- Physical and virtual cards.
Controls
| Control | Scope |
|---|---|
| Spending limit | Per card, per device, per day or per month |
| Freeze | Instant, reversible |
| Kill switch | Instant, permanent for that card; a new card can be issued |
| Merchant categories | Allow or block categories per card |
| Vault binding | Bind a card to a vault so it can only spend that bucket |
Which vault pays
A card is bound to one vault. Bind a "spending" vault with auto-sweep keeping it topped up, and the rest of your balance stays allocated to yield.
Statements
Statements are generated client-side from your notes and memos. A viewing key can share card history with an accountant for a date range, and nothing else.
